Sequoia Voting Systems Releases Preliminary Information about Independent Review of Its Voting Equipment Used in New Jersey

As a follow up to March 18th’s general statement by Sequoia Voting Systems in support of third party reviews of our products (see http://www.sequoiavote.com/press.php?ID=51), we would like to share the following information about a specific product review that is currently being conducted on Sequoia’s AVC Advantage voting equipment software used by our customers throughout the State of New Jersey.

Sequoia has commissioned an independent source code review of the software version currently in use on the Advantage voting equipment used throughout New Jersey. This report will show that Sequoia’s product bulletin issued recently to our Advantage customers does indeed explain how the reporting issue that occurred during the February 5th Primary Elections happened and how it can be prevented. The report generated by this review will be emailed simultaneously to the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office and Sequoia Voting Systems, and Sequoia will post this report on our website at www.sequoiavote.com. The review is being undertaken by Kwaidan Consulting of Houston, Texas.

In addition, Wyle Laboratories of Huntsville, Alabama - an Election Assistance Commission (EAC) accredited Voting System Test Lab (VSTL) - is reviewing the updated source code, specifically to check that the reporting issue experienced by some customers in New Jersey during the February 5th Primary has been prevented in the updated version of Sequoia’s software that Wyle is currently testing as part of Sequoia’s New Jersey Voting System Certification process.

Depending on scheduling, either Wyle Laboratories, another EAC accredited VSTL or researchers from an academic institution will also conduct a review of the current software used in New Jersey. This work will be purposefully redundant of the initial review currently in process by Kwaidan Consulting.
