SPYRUS Announces Manufacturing Agreement With PNY Technologies for High Volume US-Based Production of USB 3.0 SSD Secure Live Drives and Storage Drives

FIPS 140-2 Level 3 Embedded SPYRUS Smartcard Supports Two-Factor Authentication to Cloud-Based Applications and Safeguards Users Against Identity Theft

SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 02/18/14 -- SPYRUS, Inc. and PNY Technologies, Inc. announced today a partnership to manufacture Windows To Go USB 3.0 SSD live drives certified by Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT). This partnership positions SPYRUS to meet anticipated global demands for tens of millions of identity-based USB drives in the next several years.

"PNY is proud to partner with SPYRUS, the leader in designing secure Windows To Go live drives for Enterprise customers," said Bob Stone, SVP of Operations for PNY. "Our extensive manufacturing and support facilities for flash based products in Parsippany, New Jersey can meet the global demand forecasted for bootable live drives and SSDs. We have years of experience of shipping millions of reliable devices to enterprises and consumers that SPYRUS customers can depend on."

Secured by SPYRUS™ technology means you can trust the integrity of your supply chain. A unique feature of the SPYRUS USB 3.0 product lines is a hardware chain-of-trust anchored by the SPYRUS Rosetta Micro FIPS 140-2 Level 3 hardware security module. With the Rosetta Micro PKI feature, enterprises can leverage their investment in public key and smart card infrastructures, extending their trusted foundation for two-factor authentication, smart card login, VPN access, secure email, and authenticated online collaboration. This hardware chain of trust protects user and enterprise data, networks, and VPNs against hacking and counterfeiting attacks which can compromise private and public key usage when PKI operations are performed solely in software.

"SPYRUS selected PNY as a US manufacturing partner to meet our commitment to deliver the most trustworthy security products to our customers," said Tom Dickens, Chief Operating Officer, SPYRUS, Inc. "Their reputation for customer service, commitment to quality, and ability to scale manufacturing volumes to millions of units per month, made PNY the logical choice for SPYRUS."

SPYRUS is extending the USB 3.0 platform by introducing the PocketVault and PocketVault P-3X hardware-encrypted SSD storage drives enabled with the same embedded Rosetta smartcard security for strong two-factor authentication applications. No other SSD storage product offers smartcard authentication security that enterprises can leverage with existing PKI or smartcard infrastructures.

SPYRUS live drives booting either Windows and Linux and PocketVault storage drives boast super-fast random access read and write speeds, the critical performance metric for optimizing operating system performance. Fully compatible with USB 2.0 ports, SPYRUS drives are ready to plug and play with your existing PC and most Macs (Mac support provided by SPYRUS).

SPYRUS smartcard-enabled live drives are ideal for securely accessing cloud-based services with two-factor authentication. Organizations can now economically upgrade to Windows 8.1 while meeting mandates for FIPS 140-2 validated two-factor authentication.

The optional SEMS device management system allows enterprise administrators to register, block/unblock, revoke, set policies, audit, and "kill" the SPYRUS products from a central location.

SPYRUS WorkSafe live drives and other Secured by SPYRUS™ USB encryption drives can be ordered immediately from SPYRUS and its resellers. Email [email protected] for more information.

And as digital natives make up more and more of the modern workforce, the appetite for user-friendly, cloud-based services grows. The center of work is shifting to the user and to the cloud. When Enterprises started adopting Hadoop-based Big Data environments over the last ten years, they were mainly on-premise deployments. Organizations would spin up and manage large Hadoop clusters, where they would funnel exabytes or petabytes of unstructured data. However, over the last few years the economics of maintaining this enormous infrastructure compared with the elastic scalability of viable cloud options has changed this equation. The growth of cloud storage, cloud-managed big data e...
