Perhaps some "new" geeks do not understand and think that we are saying that 20 years ago or more, was much more exciting to work with personal computers.
Those who think like we had the experience of not having everything available with one click. We had the experience of exploring, testing, programming and hacking, in the best sense of the word, to learn what lay beyond, through an Internet girl, who was just beginning.
I do not complain of the times, on the contrary, the convenience of having all the information at a click, to me is priceless. But sometimes I miss those times s "adventures" we spent trying to see what we could find and also creating our own programs and scripts to automate tasks that can now be done with one click, then another and we solved the problem of developing them.
That said, when this morning I was reading the feeds, I came across an article by my friend Juan de PuntoGeek, that made me remember the days when ASCII art was also the quintessential art personal computers. John's article is about the movie Star Wars A New Hope, which can be seen in ASCII code via console commands on Windows, Mac or Linux.
