Infor and Red Hat Collaborate to Deliver Infor LN on Open Source Stack Coupled With MySQL or MariaDB

Infor Applications on Red Hat Open Source Solutions Available on Cloud, Virtual, and Physical Infrastructures

NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 09/26/12 -- Infor, a leading provider of business application software serving more than 70,000 customers, today announced a collaboration with Red Hat, Inc., the world's leading provider of open source solutions, to make Infor's ERP suite available on both Red Hat Enterprise Linux and JBoss Enterprise Middleware solutions, providing customers with a flexible solution based on industry standards that is high performing and reliable. Infor10 ION and Infor LN are now certified on Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating platform and JBoss Enterprise Middleware solutions. Certifying Infor applications on Red Hat's open source platforms gives customers access to a broad base of innovation without lock-in and provides deployment choices for Infor solutions coupled with opportunities to lower costs significantly. Additionally, both Infor LN and ION can now leverage MySQL and MariaDB, further reducing the TCO of Infor LN and ION for cloud service providers and customers with mandates for use of open source within their IT infrastructures.

"Infor wants to provide our customers access to leading innovation while reducing total cost of ownership so they can focus on enabling business processes that help drive growth and profitability," said Ali Shadman, SVP, Business Cloud, Infor. "By collaborating with Red Hat, we are working with the industry leader to give our customers the choice to standardize on open standards while providing world-class applications that deliver proven value without compromising performance or functionality."

By making its applications available on Red Hat open source stack, Infor enables customers to run applications on a flexible, open source platform for hybrid infrastructures that cross physical, virtual, and public cloud resources. Since Infor products support cloud and on-premise infrastructures using the same code base to provide identical functionality, collaborating with Red Hat is another way it helps customers lower the cost of deployment with scalability, performance, and reliability. Additionally, Infor10 ION technology enables customers to run an entire open source suite with out-of-the-box integration.

JBoss Enterprise Middleware provides businesses with open source solutions that help them develop, deploy and manage applications, update business processes, and better integrate services and data. The solutions help create more efficient, intelligent, integrated enterprises.

"Red Hat continually seeks ways to enhance the value we bring to our enterprise customers through our JBoss Middleware solutions and Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating platform, and our collaboration with Infor is yet another great example," said Craig Muzilla, vice president and general manager, Middleware, Red Hat. "Red Hat and Infor raise the bar in enterprise technology innovation, and we're doing it again by offering an enterprise-class ERP leveraging an open stack."

Both Infor LN and ION can be deployed using Red Hat middleware on MySQL or MariaDB databases as an advanced technology option to create a complete open source stack on which to run Infor applications. The open source-based stack is ideal for cloud service providers who can use the economics of open source to enhance their business value propositions.

Digital Transformation is much more than a buzzword. The radical shift to digital mechanisms for almost every process is evident across all industries and verticals. This is often especially true in financial services, where the legacy environment is many times unable to keep up with the rapidly shifting demands of the consumer. The constant pressure to provide complete, omnichannel delivery of customer-facing solutions to meet both regulatory and customer demands is putting enormous pressure on...
IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through. Unfortunately, this inevitably makes IoT less approachable for people to get started with and can hamper efforts to integrate this key technology into your own portfolio. There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the h...
The standardization of container runtimes and images has sparked the creation of an almost overwhelming number of new open source projects that build on and otherwise work with these specifications. Of course, there's Kubernetes, which orchestrates and manages collections of containers. It was one of the first and best-known examples of projects that make containers truly useful for production use. However, more recently, the container ecosystem has truly exploded. A service mesh like Istio addr...
